A playful, knowing smile touched her lips as she deliberately “misunderstood” a concept, just to hear him patiently explain it again in that rich, soothing baritone. The thick textbook on the bed between them felt less like a source of knowledge and more like a flimsy, symbolic barrier, one that was becoming easier to cross with every shared glance and accidental brush of fingers. The question of whether they were truly study buddies or something far more intimate hung, unspoken, in the air, charging it with a palpable, electric tension. Finally, Lily closed the book with a definitive snap, her eyes locking with his in a silent challenge that had nothing to do with academics and everything to do with the attraction they had both been silently cultivating. The study session was officially, and mutually, abandoned as the space transformed from a classroom annex into something much more private and promising.
