The air in the room grew thick with a palpable sense of mischievous anticipation as Karma Rx, her eyes sparkling with a devilish gleam, prepared to unveil her legendary party trick. Ricky Johnson, a bemused and slightly skeptical grin plastered on his face, watched her every move from his comfortable perch on the plush sofa. With a theatrical flourish, Karma produced a seemingly ordinary deck of playing cards, fanning them out with a practiced, fluid motion that hinted at countless hours of secret rehearsal. She then instructed a thoroughly captivated Ricky to select one card, any card at all, and to memorize it without revealing its identity to her. A collective hush fell over the gathered guests as he carefully slid the Queen of Hearts back into the deck, his expression a mask of focused concentration. Karma’s hands moved with an almost supernatural speed, shuffling and cutting the deck with such mesmerizing dexterity that it was impossible to follow the individual cards. She then closed her brilliant, knowing eyes, holding the deck lightly against her temple as if listening to its whispered secrets. After a long, dramatic pause that stretched the tension to its absolute breaking point, her lips curled into a triumphant, cat-like smile. With a final, deliberate flick of her wrist, she produced a single card from the very center of the deck, presenting it directly to a stunned Ricky Johnson. His jaw dropped in genuine, unadulterated astonishment as he stared, utterly flabbergasted, at the very same Queen of Hearts he had so carefully chosen moments before.
