The soft morning light streamed into Jessica Starling’s minimalist apartment, catching the dust motes dancing around her like silent music. She stood perfectly still, caught in the magnetic pull between her two great loves, a musical ménage à trois that defined her very existence. On her left rested the sleek, polished body of her vintage Fender Stratocaster, its sunburst finish glowing with a warm, electric promise. To her right stood the formidable, dark wood of a grand Bösendorfer piano, its closed lid hiding a universe of resonant, classical depth. Jessica’s fingers, still buzzing from last night’s gritty rock rehearsal with the fiery Vitaly Vox, now itched for the disciplined touch of ivory and ebony. She could almost hear Vitaly’s raw, powerful baritone still echoing in the room, a stark contrast to the complex symphonies sleeping within the piano.
