The sterile, fluorescent hum of the dental office was violently shattered by the high-pitched whine of a drill wielded with unhinged enthusiasm by Johnny Sins. His patient, the normally unflappable Diana Doll, gripped the chair’s arms with white-knuckled terror, her eyes wide with a primal fear. Johnny, however, was not performing a standard cavity preparation but was instead attempting what he called “extreme dental artistry.” He had decided to engrave a tiny, intricate mosaic onto the surface of a perfectly healthy molar, a plan Diana had only vaguely consented to after a confusing conversation. The drill bit, spinning at an alarming RPM, suddenly caught on the edge of the tooth with a sickening crunch. A shower of porcelain dust and a small, glittering fragment of enamel flew through the air, landing squarely on Diana’s cheek. In a moment of pure, adrenaline-fueled panic, Johnny reflexively reached for the high-speed suction, accidentally jamming the tip against her tongue with a loud, wet slurp. Diana’s muffled scream was absorbed by the various tubes and implements now filling her mouth, a sound of pure, unadulterated betrayal. The intended masterpiece now resembled a jagged crater, a permanent testament to his catastrophic ambition. Their professional relationship, much like the tooth, was irrevocably fractured in that single, drill-and-thrill fiasco.
