She had always been a disciplinarian, even before she became a stepmom. Her stern demeanor and no-nonsense attitude had made her a favorite among the students at her previous school, where she taught math and science. But now, as a stepparent, she found herself having to discipline her stepdaughter in ways that she never thought possible. It was difficult for her, but she knew it was for the best. The girl needed structure, and she was determined to provide it. So, when the girl defied her yet again, she couldn’t help but feel a sense of frustration and irritation bubble up within her. But she also knew that she had to stay calm and composed if she wanted to effectively discipline the girl. She took a deep breath, walked over to where the girl was sitting, and said in a firm yet gentle voice, I’m afraid I can’t allow you to behave in this manner. You need to apologize to your mother for disrespecting her. The girl looked up at her with defiance written all over her face, but she remained silent. The girl hesitated for a moment, but then reluctantly got up and followed her stepmom up to their shared bedroom. There, she sat down at the desk and began to write while her stepmom watched her closely.
