The afternoon sun slanted through the slats of the blinds, casting long, warm stripes across the rumpled sheets where the three of us lay entangled. A faint, intoxicating blend of their perfumes—one a spicy gardenia, the other a clean, musky amber—hung in the still air, a scent I would forever associate with stolen hours.
