The late afternoon sun slanted through the dusty, unadorned windows, catching the shimmer of perspiration on his sculpted shoulders as he lowered the heavy mattress onto the floor with a soft, final groan. A bead of sweat traced a slow, deliberate path down the strong column of his neck, and I watched, mesmerized, as it disappeared beneath the damp fabric of his white t-shirt. The air in the room was thick and warm, heavy with the scent of his exertion and the newness of the bare walls surrounding us.
