Chris gripped the armrests, his knuckles turning white, feeling utterly trapped in the chromed embrace of the malfunctioning furniture. A distinct smell of burning wiring now joined the antiseptic scent, creating a nauseating cocktail of chemical aromas. With a final, jarring lurch, the chair stopped its descent, leaving Chris nearly upside down, staring at the acoustic tiles of the ceiling.
