Savannah Bond, Mazee The Goat Pic(s)
The Georgia sun beat down upon the sprawling, emerald-green pasture, casting long shadows as our eclectic group settled onto their mats for what was promised to be a serene session of goat yoga. Our instructor, the renowned Savannah Bond, moved with a powerful, fluid grace that spoke of both strength and a deep, meditative calm. The initial tranquility, however, was delightfully short-lived with the arrival of the main attraction, the irrepressible Mazee The Goat. Just as Savannah guided us into a precarious Tree Pose, Mazee decided my leg was the most interesting new sapling in the field, nudging insistently with her soft, stubborn head. A wave of giggles erupted as Mazee then pranced over to another participant, boldly sampling the fringe of their yoga towel with thoughtful curiosity. Savannah’s composure never broke, her voice a soothing counterpoint to the caprine chaos as she effortlessly demonstrated a Warrior Two. The session quickly evolved into a beautiful, unscripted dance of human flexibility and animal mischief, a true embodiment of ‘Sweat, Suds & Savannah’. Laughter became the most common pose, mingling with the gentle bleats and the soft rustle of grass underfoot. After a particularly challenging sequence, we were rewarded not with silence, but with the simple, profound joy of a goat’s affectionate nuzzle. We left the pasture that day feeling physically spent but spiritually light, our clothes carrying the earthy scent of hay and happiness, a perfect souvenir from a morning where wellness met wonderful, unbridled wildness.
